Hey er’body. I’ve decided to embark on a Project 365, which is where you commit to capturing one photo a day for an entire year. I know it really doesn’t sound that challenging, but I’m sure there will be days to come where I’ll be all, “What’s the point? No one cares. Who the hell wants to see a picture of my shoelaces??” Most people that do this sort of thing probably start on the New Year, but that’s not how Dougie Crowther rolls. Nope. Instead, he chooses a random day…say, April 16th. Yeah, that sounds good.
I’ve decided not to set any rules for myself in this project, and am hopeful that I can do this entirely with my DSLR (which means I need to try and start lugging that thing with me anywhere I go…a challenge in itself). It’s simply an experiment that will force me to pick up my camera every day and edit more often. Realistically, I probably won’t be able to post each day, so I will strive to make sure I at least post in bulk once a week. They won’t always be pretty (unless the wife is in them of course), and they most certainly won’t be perfect, but it will be a glimpse into my life (which you’ll find is just too exciting for reality TV). With that said, let’s do this!!
P.S. – The format of this post will be a bit different than my others, as this one will be continually updated as the year progresses. I’m also embedding the images from Flickr to save storage space on my WordPress, so hopefully there are no issues with the images loading properly.

Day 186. Pretending to play the flute.

Day 169. Love watching and listening to this girl play by herself.
Day 168. Another gloomy day outside.
Day 167. An old school Kodak Brownie Reflex 20 camera my sister found at my parents’ house. I think it makes a pretty cool decorative item above the desk area in our room, but I might try to get some film for it and see if it still works.
Day 166. Drinking some milkies before bed. That flash really brings out his blue eyes, doesn’t it?
Day 165. Blowing out the candles for mommy’s birthday.
Day 164. Karla’s new orchid.
Day 163. All the kids eyeing up Cam’s birthday cake.

Day 156. Spending the evening putting Ikea sh*t together.
Day 155. Dragged this hot mama out with me to scope out the Sparrows Point Country Club, where I’ll be photographing my first wedding next week. I’ll try not to let the fun of driving a golf cart around get in the way of doing actual work.
Day 154. These kids love falling asleep right before we get to where we’re going.
Day 153. Penelope’s first official day of preschool! So proud of her!! (Side note: I skipped posting Day 152 since it was a photo of my kids in the bath tub and there are some creepy people in this world.)

Day 150. He caught me.
Day 149. This marks the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Every year on Putty Hill Ave, 2,977 flags are placed along the side of the road to commemorate those who lost their lives that day. I remember being in my 3rd period Physics class with Mr. Winkler when I first started hearing bits and pieces of what had happened from different students. However, at the time, no one knew the gravity of just how tragic that day would turn out to be.
Day 148. Newborn shoot with Baby Maisie.
Day 147. Drop-in day for Penelope’s Pre-K. This was just a meet and greet with the teachers and a chance for the kids to check out the classroom. I think this girl will have a blast this year!
Day 146. My sister and I met my mom at Union Memorial Hospital, where my dad had quadruple bypass heart surgery in the morning. He was still heavily sedated by the time we went back to see him, but overall he looked pretty good. Hope you have a speedy recovery, Dad!
Day 145. Here’s a two-for-one special. Self-portrait (apologies) + photography tutorial. Consider it a free lesson on making a weird hazy flare effect using a bottle of cologne. This is what happens when it’s late and you still need a photo for the day.

Day 126. Our last night in Myrtle Beach. Following dinner, the light was turning perfect and I just had to get in a nice little family photo opp in this area a few steps away from the boardwalk. I could’ve spent more time shooting here, but we still wanted to play mini golf and had lots of packing up left to do.

Day 95. Haircut number two for Lucas.
Day 94. The prettiest little silly girl I know.
Day 93. Wind chimes and blue eyes.
Day 92. Took the kids over to Aunt Erin’s while Karla went to Warped Tour. Maya was my little helper for the day.
Day 91. Friday night dinner at On the Border. The happy hour margaritas were awesome, but the whiny and teething one year old…not so much. Partial photo cred: Karla
Day 90. Whatever you do, don’t get between Lucas and his drawer.
Day 89. Karla and Penelope lounging in their brand new matching LuLaRoe leggings, courtesy of my sister, Erin. Check out her page at facebook.com/lularoebyerinmichelle if you’re interested!

Day 59. A selfie on the Scrambler at Hershey Park with Karla and Penelope. It was so much fun watching my baby girl get on her first rides. She LOVED the Coal Cracker, or as she called it “the boat ride.” Lucas got on a few too, but without much reaction, haha.
*Since I didn’t want to worry about carrying my DSLR, I had to compromise and take my daily photo with my cell phone.
Day 58. First time busting out the grill for the year. Of course, the propane would run out half way through. Doh!!
Day 57. Penelope being her usual goof-ball self.
Day 56. My niece Maya doing her math homework on a Friday evening. Keep it up, kid!
Day 55. My baby girl doing her nebulizer treatment. Don’t worry, she wasn’t feeling miserable like how it shows in this photo. Just a bit sleepy is all.
Day 54. Dropped Karla off at the airport at 3:30am. She’s traveling to Honduras on business for a couple of days. We tried, but I just would not fit in that luggage of hers. The kids and I miss you already, mama!

Day 44. We all walked down the boardwalk for breakfast after a quick mini photo shoot with this little stud, Brody. Kid knows how to rock a fedora.
Day 43. Holding my baby girl’s hand on the beach. Not much more a father could ask for. (There’s too many good ones to post from our weekend down in OC, so I’ll get around to posting a blog hopefully sooner than later.)
Day 42. We’re heading down to Ocean City to hang with the Henrys for a day and a half, and this is how much we had to pack. Family life struggles.
Day 41. Where’d Lucas go?
Day 40. The doggies must know it’s breakfast time.

Day 38. I love catching the many creative ways this little girl plays with her toys.
Day 37. Karla helping Penelope across the balance beam during her gymnastics class.
Day 36. Brought a six pack of these home from New Hampshire back in January. I still have one left in the fridge. Sooo good!
Day 35. Went to check out the Preakness Celebration Hot Air Balloon Festival at Turf Valley. My goodness was it a nightmare to get there.
Day 34. My nephew Josh came down to grab some gear from me for his first wedding shoot (good luck!). Slapped on a 24-70mm f/2.8L that he rented just to check it out. Sure as hell wouldn’t mind having this in the bag, but likely won’t happen.

Day 32. Waiting for Karla to come out of her building so we can run off for lunch together on this rainy day.

Day 30. Made it over to Aunt Erin’s for dinner and a first haircut. Penelope ABSOLUTELY loves playtime with her cousins!

Day 28. My typical breakfast as of late. Poached egg over toast, some banana, and a small bowl of either cereal or oatmeal.
Day 27. Nice to wake up and not hear rain drops outside the window for once. It’s been a very rainy April and May here in Baltimore.
Day 26. Home with Lucas while Karla and Penelope ran out to the store. He was crawling all over the house with this one block.
Day 25. A shot from a newborn session I had with this super nice family. They were my first clients that I’ve never previously met through friends, which must mean I’m finally starting to expand out of my bubble. Pretty stoked!
Day 24. Just parked in the garage. About to head in to work.
Day 23. First hair cut for Lucas on Mother’s Day! We were going to have Aunt Erin cut it, but we got impatient and have been too busy to go see her. Karla figured she’d give it a shot, and I think it turned out pretty slick.

Day 15. A shot from my maternity photo session I had with our friend Gina. Can’t wait to edit all the others from the shoot.
Day 14. Celebrating my mother-in-law’s birthday. That lady does so much for our family, we can’t thank her enough. Happy Birthday, Ivonne!!
Day 13. Waiting for mommy to come home.
Day 12. Caught in the act. Always trying to get to the dog bowls.
Day 11. I stayed home with the kiddos today since Abuela wasn’t feeling well. Made it out to Double Rock Park so this little lady could do her thing.
Day 10. I’m not much of a morning person, but one of my favorite things is when this little girl runs to my side of the bed and says, “The sun go up!”
Day 9. Lazy Sunday for mommy and daddy (and the dogs, as usual) after an eventful Saturday. Here’s Penelope enjoying a snack, and Lucas enjoying his sock.
Day 8. Getting Lucas’ birthday party planned and prepped was a bit stressful to say the least. But in the end, I think it turned out a success. Thank you so much to all our friends and family for coming out and celebrating our little guy turning the big O-N-E!
Day 7. And just like that, Lucas is officially a one year old. Time sure does go by fast, especially with two little ones. Happy Birthday, buddy! I love you so much.
Day 6. Someone is earning another sticker on the potty chart.
Day 5. Baked salmon over mixed veggies, drizzled with teriyaki. Prepared by yours truly.
Day 4. Breakfast is served on a Tuesday morning.
Day 3. This is what sits in front of me every day at work. Nothing like grabbing those keys at 5pm 😛
Day 2. Had some alone time with Lucas for a few hours while Karla was out with Penelope at Gina’s baby shower. I let the little guy do some roaming around. And just like his dad, he can’t seem to stay away from the kitchen.
Day 1. [April 16, 2016] My wife and son while we were in the shed digging out some things for his first birthday party next week. Almost a year old. Crazy.
very nice, so proud of you! Best of Luck on your project.
